Worldwide, tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death among HIV-infectedpersons. HIV is the most potent risk factor for the development of active tuberculosis.
HIV-infected persons with TB are far more likely to die before completing their 6-month TB treatment course than TB patients who are not co-infected with HIV.
