A first assessment of the genetic diversity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex in Cambodia.

Background
Cambodia is among the 22 high-burden TB countries, and has one of the highest rates of TB in South-East Asia. This study aimed to describe the genetic diversity among clinical Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTC) isolates collected in Cambodia and to relate these findings to genetic diversity data from neighboring countries.

Pulmonary tuberculosis among patients visiting a voluntary confidential counseling and testing center, Cambodia.

SETTING: Voluntary counseling and confidential testing center (VCCT), Battambang District, Cambodia.
 
OBJECTIVES: To determine newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) prevalence and predicting factors, and assess the utility of TB-related symptoms and yield of sputum microscopy and culture.
 
DESIGN: Cross-sectional survey using interview, sputum smears and cultures and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing.

Completeness and consistency in recording information in the tuberculosis case register, Cambodia, China and Viet Nam.

SETTING: Tuberculosis (TB) case registers in Cambodia, two provinces in China and in Viet Nam.
 
OBJECTIVE: To determine completeness and consistency of information for quarterly reports on case finding and treatment outcome.
 
METHODS: A representative sample of TB case registers was selected in Cambodia, in two provinces in China and in Viet Nam. Quarterly reports were reproduced from double-entered, validated data to determine completeness and consistency.
